Kenya's Supreme Court nullifies President Kenyatta Presidential win

The Supreme Court found out that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) breached the constitution in the transmission of the election results.

Chief Justice David Maraga read the verdict.

“A declaration is here that the president elections held on 8th August was not conducted in accordance with the constitution and therefore it is invalid, null and void” Maraga said.

The Supreme Court has ordered the presidential elections to be held within 60 days of the ruling.

Kenya went to the polls on August 8th after which the IEBC on 12th August declared incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta the winner in the president elections.

President Uhuru Kenyatta garnered 8,203,290 (54.27%) votes against his closest political rival NASA Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga's 6,762,224 (44.74%) votes according to IEBC results to be declared the winner.

Kenya’s opposition moved to the Supreme Court on 16th August to challenge the elections outcome claiming it had been rigged.
