Massachusetts State Police said the injuries were of "varying severity."

Several people were injured in Boston on Monday when a taxi driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a group of pedestrians, local media are reporting.

The Boston Globe reported at least 10 people were injured in the incident, which occurred near a Logan International Airport taxi pool in East Boston just west of the airport. Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio said some of the victims were injured seriously.

Witnesses told The Globe the incident occurred in an area where other taxi drivers take breaks and play cards, and that the victims were all fellow drivers. Video from the scene showed the car plowed into at least one picnic table.

Victims are being sent to three hospitals in the area — Boston Medical Center, Tufts Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Rescuers could be seen loading at least one person into a stretcher, according to the Associated Press.
