Nigerian President moves to fill vacant ministerial positions
This move was made in order to satisfy the constitution provisions of one minster per state in the federation.
This move was made in order to satisfy the constitution provisions of one minster per state in the federation. These ministerial nominees are from Kogi and Gombe states.
Mr. Ocheni and Sulaimon Hassan would be replacing James Ocholi who died in a car accident a year ago and Amina Mohammed, current United Nations’ Deputy Secretary-General respectively.
This move is seen as a prelude to the major cabinet shake-up by the current administration.
Mr. Ocheni is a Professor of Public Sector Accounting and currently the Dean, faculty of management sciences, Kogi State University, Ayingba.
Ocheni is a professional forensic auditor, and he was a former director (Finance and Accounts) in the Federal ministry of foreign affairs and office of the Accountant General of the Federation before joining the academics in 2013.
Mr. Sulaimon Hassan is a professional surveyor and a politician. He was the Gombe state Chairman of the Defunct Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), the president’s former party.
He was also part of the Non-Ambassadorial nominees approved the Senate last two weeks.
Mr. Hassan is the current Registrar of the Quantity Surveyors Council of Nigeria.
