Nigerian doctor says Boko Haram deserves no pardon but death sentence

Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, has said Boko Haram is an unapologetic terrorist gang that deserve no pardon.

A Nigerian medical doctor and founder of the Oodua People’s Congress, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, has said Boko Haram is an unapologetic terrorist gang that deserve no pardon.

The Nigerian doctor condemned the Federal Government for offering amnesty to members of the terrorist gang saying the act is the most unequivocal testimonial that government has been merely spewing lies and propaganda about defeating Boko Haram.

In a statement on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, Fasehun said “Offering amnesty to a world-acclaimed terrorist organisation is the most unequivocal testimonial that government has been merely spewing lies and propaganda about defeating Boko Haram.”

Continuing, Fasehun said “If the government says it has defeated Boko Haram, technically or completely, then what is the rationale for offering pardon to these terrorists? Instead, the government should commit its energy to totally breaking Boko Haram and other insurgents, just like Iraq has done to ISIS.”

The OPC founder described the amnesty offer as irrational and inciting saying, “Boko Haram does not deserve pardon because it is an unapologetic terrorist gang whose unprovoked and large-scale killing of innocent civilians places it in the league of Al-Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS and ISIL.

“We demand that they be brought to justice.”

The Nigerian doctor also urged the President Muhammadu Buhari led government to ensure that Boko Haram members should face military court martial, while those found guilty should be sentenced to death.

Buhari insists on negotiating with terrorists

President Buhari explained to sacked US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, how his government will resort to negotiation with the terrorists.

Buhari had said his government will negotiate for the release of 110 girls abducted from a school in the northeastern town in February 2018, rather than use a military operation to free them by force.

“President Buhari added that Nigeria was working in concert with international organizations and negotiators, to ensure that the girls were released unharmed by their captors,” the presidency statement said.

President Buhari met and discussed the use of negotiations during a meeting with sacked U.S. Secretary of State, who was in Nigeria for the last stop in a week-long tour of African countries.
