It's the bane of every lady's existence, the quest for long, luscious hair. So nothing is more frustrating that going through the ritual of combing one's hair, only to find a nice chunk left over on the comb. It's heart-breaking to say the least.

On the other hand, there are quite a number of folks who never experience this heart-wrenching moment. They comb, comb and comb some more, and a hairless comb stares back at them. So, what are they doing right?

Well my friend, for one they're taking real good care of their hair, that's for sure. Here are a few things you're probably doing wrong and need to stop before you find all your hair on a comb one day.

  1. Relaxing the tip of your hair: Ladies, this is wrong on every level. Please, stop it now! The tip of the hair is the weakest part of the hair, and we all know that relaxers aren't the mildest chemicals in the world. So every time you apply the harsh chemical that a relaxer is, you're weakening your hair and making it susceptible to breakage. So, no more relaxed tips ladies.

  2. Constant use of hair straighteners: We all that extra glossy, sleek look that hair straighteners seem to miraculously give. But, guess what ladies? Hair straighteners aren't very healthy for the hair as they also weaken the hair tip which can lead to hair breakage. So, you may want to minimise the use of hair straighteners and heating tools in general. Rather than straighten, hop into a dryer every now and again.

  3. You're using a fine-tooth comb: Fine-toothed combs are another no-no for the hair. It causes strain and can eventually lead to hair breakagae. Rather than use fine-toothed combs, use wide-toothed combs for the hair.

What you should do:

  • Use wide-toothed combs

  • Trim your hair after every touch-up to get rid of weak ends

  • Give some space between your touch-ups, at least 8 weeks

  • Steam your hair regularly. At least a week after every touch up.
