Defying the typical Nigerian setting where things (post, writings etc) are not allowed or prohibited from being drawn and/or written on walls and fences, Polly Alakija as commissioned by the Lagos state government, is painting murals around the Falomo bridge as part of the Lagos at 50 celebrations.

Alakija expresses her love for graffiti art in these words. "I do love street art, murals, graffiti art that I can see happening. I enjoy the fact that it is ephemeral up to a point, that it can’t be owned, framed, hung up on a wall."
