Memoirs of a Black Box is an engagement and opening up of dialogue across varied genres, exploring the intersection between the arts while exploring notions of identity, connections and inter-connections to wider humanity, using performance, visual art and music as a catalyst for engagement.

According to Williams, through memoirs of a black box, "I am approaching the subject matter from a fluid and dualistic position exploring the notions of “ me is we” philosophy as made famous by Muhammed Ali in relation to history, appropriation and negritude.

Can the Black Box help you or can you help the Black Box?”

Williams' solo exhibit collaborates performance and visual art while questioning notions of the 4 elements of existence: body, mind, heart, and spirit as a recollection mechanism in documenting culture, custom and tradition.

His body of abstract paintings on show was created using a training sequence in shadow boxing.

Saliq Williams is a mixed media artist exploring contemporary, digital and traditional modes of expressions through multi dimensional approach of blurring generational lines and the paradoxes of living in contemporary times. He draws inspiration from many variants of life architecture, film, culture, film making, story boarding, poetry, martial arts and music as an observer and an avid participant, reality to him is more fluid and less rigid.
