Auction house sells $1.5 billion of art in three days

Christies made history Wednesday by becoming the first auction house to cross the $1 billion mark in art sales in just one week.

It has been a great week for Christie's auction house as it has sold $1.54 billion of fine art and collectibles within three days.

With nine auctions held so far this week, two of its auctions make up 90% of the great sales so far.

Kicking off the great week was undefined which sold for $179.4 million on Monday, becoming the most expensive painting to ever sell at auction.
